Curiosity leads. Making follows.
Images become a way of thinking.
Time is paused.
Emotion is distilled into form.
Tala Hajjar is a photographer and a ceramicist, though her work is not bound by disciplines.
For now, clay and the lens are the languages through which an inner world takes shape.
‘Familiar Strangers’ is a first collection of ceramic characters: functional, anthropomorphic beings that exist as bowls, vessels, and companions.
They are hybrids, imagined and dreamt up unpredictably.
Each carries a story. An emotion. A gesture.
Imperfect and unapologetic, they are made to inhabit everyday life: to sit on tables, hold fruit, witness gatherings, and quietly spark connection.
These are her ‘familiar strangers’.
